Our Human History: Creativity is Ancient DNA

October 9, 2016

Creating is a part of life. We do it every day.

If we interchange creativity with Spirit we see that creativity is a need for a connection with Spirit.

Connection with Spirit through the avenue of creativity is part of everyday life.

Planning meals, your personal fashion sense, enjoying music, singing, playing, dance and writing are a few examples of living life in a creative way.

Clients state that their lack of satisfaction with their current work is in the lack of creativity. When initiating change they are actively seeking creativity in their work life.

It's not easy to change careers overnight; this takes patience, planning and timing. When you recognize the importance of living a full creative life the opportunities you currently have will come into focus, giving you the mental clarity to make the changes you want to make.

Our human history with Creativity and Spirit is ancient; In the Judaeo-Christian tradition, creativity was the sole province of God; humans were not considered to have the ability to create something new except as an expression of God's work.  A concept similar to that of Christianity existed in Greek culture, for instance, Muses were seen as mediating inspiration from the Gods. Romans and Greeks invoked the concept of an external creative "daemon" (Greek) or "genius" (Latin), linked to the sacred or the divine.

Inspiration is all around us but it takes a shift in consciousness to let it happen. Give yourself time to find that sweet spot or muse. Let's try a few things to get you started.
  • Look around you, where are you now?
  • What in this space do you find interesting?
  • Let your eyes wonder
  • Just be with this for a minute
  • Everything has meaning
Do not filter; your shadow side may need some creative expression too.

When you find yourself stressed out, discouraged, frustrated or sad know that you have within you an ancient practice (" linked to the sacred or the divine....") that is part of your ancestors DNA, this seed of creativity is ripe and ready for discovery.

I celebrate and honor this blessing in your life.

Until next time,

Suzi
